My editing schedule tends to fill up four months ahead of time, so I would always advise booking me in advance. That being said, I always try to be flexible. Drop me a line with the specific needs of your project and I’ll see what I can do.
• Non-fiction.
• Children’s fiction.
• High/epic fantasy series of 100k+ words. (I’m very open to fantasy ‘lite’ - slimmer novels where the fantasy element is more playful - or genre-bendy fiction. If your book is a fun mismash of comedy/romance/crime with fantasy elements, I’d love to take a look!)
• Police procedurals (I’m sorry! I watched too many episodes of NCIS at my grandparents’ house as a child and police dramas have been forever ruined for me as a result.)
And, this should go without saying, but I don’t work on fiction which aims to incite hatred (unless it’s against the government, haha.)
No, and I’d strongly advise being cautious of any editor who suggests otherwise. What you’re paying for is not a shortcut into the industry, but a professional editor offering time, expertise, enthusiasm and care to help make your manuscript the best it can be. Of course I want my authors to achieve their publishing goals and will be here rooting for you every step of the way.
Remember that publishing is an unpredictable industry and success is subject to timing and trends.
Even once you succeed in getting published, bestselling sales may not materialise until Book 3 or 4 or even 5 - just look at Emily Henry, Percival Everett, V E Schwab, to name just a few examples! My advice for any aspiring author would be: Patience. Start from a place of doing it for the love of it (the reason why you got into writing is, I’d hope, because you love words and language and stories!) Don’t burn yourself out; maintain your creative stamina. Creativity needs regular nurturing, dedicated time, fierce love, a good dose of courage - and did I mention patience?

Yes! The majority of my authors opt to receive their edits as a text document, but I’ve worked with authors who preferred audio notes, and regular meetings interspersed with shorter feedback documents. I’m committed to tailoring my edits to you and your preferred working style.
I work hard to keep my prices accessible to clients, and like to be fully transparent about the reasoning behind my pricing, taking into account hours worked, my own living costs, and tax - please reach out if you want to know more!
I appreciate that the majority of authors aren’t rolling in cash, and that the strain on arts funding has never been greater. I always try to be flexible, and offer rolling payment schemes and installment options to try and suit a variety of budgets. Drop me a line about your concerns and we can talk.
I cannot mediate with agents or publishers on your behalf – that step needs to come directly from you, as the author! However, I can draw on my experience working in the industry to help you refine your pitch, query or marketing material with a publishing-savvy perspective.
Yes! Some of my brilliant past clients kindly agreed to have their edits shared for this purpose (with identifying information redacted, of course). I am happy to share samples of my editorial work, to give you a sense of my style.
I do not use AI in my editing work, neither for writing nor for research. I draw on my instincts as a voracious and critical reader, my human creativity, lived experience from my many years in publishing, and carefully chosen books on fiction craft - directly from the minds of literary critics, successful writers and publishing experts whose work I respect and trust. I strongly believe that writing and editing are human crafts.
